Jogging Health

Article by Valik Rudd

As a type of aerobic exercise, jogging helps improve cardiovascular health by strengthening and enlarging heart muscle to improve its pumping efficiency and reduce the resting heart rate.  It strengthens the muscles involved in respiration that allow the facilitation of the flow or air in and out of the lungs. It tones the muscles throughout the body and improves circulation efficiency thus reducing blood pressure.  It can also result in the increase of the total number of red blood cells in the body thus facilitating the transport of oxygen. Most people start to jog because of weight problems. It is one way of losing weight if one is obese or by maintaining weight if one has the tendency to gain more pounds. Jogging is one of the recommended activities for shedding fat as it burns a lot of calories per minute. Jogging regularly can also help fight the aging process as it prevents muscle and bone loss that is associated with age.  By sitting in the couch most of the day, a person allows his bones to become weaker but by jogging regularly the skeletal system gets the demand it needs to stay healthy. Jogging is also believed to promote the human growth hormone that keeps the body younger. Doing regular aerobic exercises such as jogging can help fight disease.  The risks of stroke and other cardiovascular diseases can be reduced by a regular regimen of jogging.  It is also recommended for people who are on the early stages of diabetes, osteoporosis, and hypertension.  The risk of heart attack can be reduced because jogging strengthens the heart muscles and lowers blood pressure.  Regular jogging maintains the elasticity of the arteries thus contributing to a healthier body. Another benefit of jogging is providing stress relief.  While jogging, especially alone, a person can think about the common problems of life.  Jogging for several minds can clear your mind and you may suddenly realize that your problems are not really problems at all. Jogging over the distance can also be a form of escape for pressing problems that a person wants to ignore for a while.  There are times when problems need to be set aside for a while and be attended to later. Sometimes it cannot be help but feel anger and aggression so focusing all your emotions on the rise and fall of your feet while jogging can make you feel better after a while. Jogging also helps improve attitude. Overcoming fatigue at the end of your jog gives you a feeling of exhilaration and euphoria. It gives the jogger a new perspective on how to view life after realizing that obstacles can be overcome. If physical pain and fatigue can be overcome by diligent jogging, a jogger will realize that life’s pain and problems can also be overcome by diligent work and perseverance.  The will and the strength that you used to overcome time and distance can be the same will and strength that you can use to overcome all the challenges of daily living.

Is it better to live in the city or the country?

Considering the pollution levels in any city around the world I feel it is hundred times better to live in a country.

These days fresh air, greenery and other wonders of nature are conspicuously absent from the city and living in a country will offer all these wonders of nature in abundance. Also living in a country has various other benefits like easy laid back life, more family time, and more opportunities for outdoor activities like horse riding among other things.

Although for some one who has been used to live in a city can find it really difficult to make a shift from city to country for various reasons like the difference in lifestyles of city and country, however if you think about the long term benefits you may change your mind. So let’s have a look at the benefits of living in the country.

Laid back life: No rushing in the mornings to catch the train or bus to reach office in time else you get caught in the morning rush hour. Relax! And enjoy your morning cuppa before you get ready to face the world.

Family bonding: Yes, that is another benefit of living in the country. Living in the country gives you enough time to spend with your family doing either the chores or just going for riding or any other thing that you can find. Living in the city as it is becomes so hectic that you don’t feel like extra time with your family.

Health benefits: Living in the greens, with the greens and by the greens is a perfect route to a healthy life. Fresh air is good for your overall being more so in the mornings if you go for a walk, jog, or horse riding. In addition to that you can practice meditation or yoga in the lap of greenery to calm your mind and relax your other senses so that you will feel rejuvenated.

Peaceful surroundings: Another biggest advantage of living in the country is the peaceful surroundings, which is not possible while living in the city. Whatever time you sit at your porch stoop, close your eyes and listen you will only hear the nature sounds like chirping of crickets, birds singing, wind rustling through trees, cow mooing and if you really listen you can even hear a some of the sounds coming from your neighbour’s home. No blaring horns of the vehicles, no neighbours fighting or any unpleasant noise in the country.

Open spaces: One thing you will love about the country will be the wide open spaces for children to run and play for. Since living in the country implies that you don’t have to live in apartments, flats or condominiums your children will have more open spaces to play. In addition to that there will be no restrictions on keeping a pet dog. And your dog will also appreciate open spaces as they love to run and play.

Safety concerns: Cities are becoming unsafe for children of all ages. If young children have a threat from perverts then teens are not safe what with knife crime on the rise, living in the country you don’t have to bother where your child is playing.

Clean air: No industrial pollution, no smog to smear the sky, only clear blue skies in the morning and a wonderful view of stars twinkling with the moon shining in the night is a view that greets people every day and night living in the country. People living in the country breathe in the clean air and don’t worry about breathing problems gripping the city folks.

Hence I would say that living in the country is much better than living in a city.

Great Benefits of Walking

Throughout the past few months numerous states encountered horrific weather conditions that confined residents to their homes. Because of that many were unable to exercise and gained a substantial amount of weight.

Now that the sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and temperatures are climbing people are undeniably anxious to get outside, enjoy the weather, and get back in shape.

There are numerous types of exercise such as strength and resistance training, aerobics, running, and swimming. Countless people choose walking as a means to get fit while others have the notion that it isn’t exercise. That concept is far from the truth because walkers receive the same benefits as those that perform a high impact cardio workout.

Here is a summary of the benefits of walking.

Walking helps reduce the risk of certain forms of cancer, osteoporosis, and targets fat while building muscle. Some studies have shown that diabetics who walked on a regular basis reduced their need for medication and their condition was more manageable.

When a person walks, their heart and lungs are being exercised as well. Walking can improve the body’s ability to use oxygen more efficiently and studies show that the risk of heart attack is decreased by 35% if a person walks at least three hours per week. In addition walking promotes better digestion and lowers blood pressure.

In today’s world stress is inevitable and if a person lives with a large volume of it, it can turn into depression. Walking can relieve stress, lighten the mood, improve sleep, and causes one to have a better outlook on life.

A fantastic thing about walking is the cost; or I should say lack thereof. Gym memberships are typically quite expensive and people don’t always utilize the facility, so in the end money is thrown away. Walking is not only easy on the wallet but it can be done anywhere and at any time.

One goal when exercising is to lose weight but some feel that walking doesn’t burn as many calories as other forms of exercise. Depending on the speed and length of time, walking can burn just as many calories as jogging does and it is easier on the body’s muscles and joints.

Not everyone can run 5 miles a day or spend an hour on an elliptical machine but they still can improve the overall health of their body and gain peace of mind through walking.

Music to listen to when jogging or running

What kind of music should you listen to when running or jogging?
Determining what kind of music you should listen to when running, jogging, or engaging in any kind of exercise activity depends on a few factors. These factors will help you determine which music works best for your running or jogging routines.

Intensity:
The intensity of one’s workout plays a big role in determining which kind of music is perfect for that particular workout.

Intense workouts that consist of weight lifting or result in high heart rate (cardio workouts) go well with music that pumps you up and gets you moving.
Fast paced music or high energy music that gets you moving and keeps you motivated is perfect for intense workouts. Genres such as rock, metal, and hardcore are often used along with high intensity workouts.
For running and jogging in particular, techno or electronic music that has a fixed BPM (beats per minute) on the higher end such as 160 BPM and higher are great for intense workouts involving sprints and consistently fast running.
Lower intensity jogs and walks can be complimented by fixed BPM tracks that are slower paced but consistent in their rhythm. BPMS below 140 can be good for these less intense workouts.
Duration:
For long distance jogs and runs, you need audio tracks that keep you motivated especially towards the end. Podcasts such as Podrunner, available on iTunes are free compilations of techno and electronic mixes that work for a variety of workouts.

There are long mixes that start off easy and then move into highly motivational audio tracks, capping off with a peak in the intensity of the music to help you finish strong.

There are also interval mixes that increase and decrease in beats per minute based on workout routines involving interval track training or switching rapidly between exercises.

Most music that works well with jogging or running is music that will get you moving and keep you moving. For most people, mellow music or relaxing music may not be the most ideal music for jogging or running, but there are always exceptions to this.

For long easy jogs, some people may benefit from mellow music that keeps them calm and focused rather than loud intense music that keeps pushing them to run harder and faster. Of course, a fixed BPM track that has a very low BPM can help people get into a steady but easy going running groove.
The reason fixed BPM tracks are mentioned in this article are because they can be extremely useful for workouts that entail running and jogging.

The fixed beats can help you find your groove and stick to it throughout the run or jog. You’d be surprised at how quickly you can find yourself falling into a groove with your running syncing up to the beats in the music.
Always use caution and care when using headphones will running outdoors or in areas where safety is an issue. Listening to music while running or jogging is safest when done on a running track or on a treadmill where obstacles, moving vehicles, and other dangers are less likely to be present.

Should I Diet if Not Healthful?

Article by James Perry

What is a Healthy Diet?

A healthy diet is made up of several factors and they all must come together in order to have a successful program. The ability to shed the desired amount of weight, and maintain the beneficial effects is truly indicative of a healthy successful diet.

Factor one is that a Lifestyle change must accompany a long-term change of the body image and form. Following the food pyramid will rule out eating junk food like burger, hot dogs, french fires and the like. They will only cause side effects as abnormal blood pressure, heightened insulin in the body and mood swings. Abdominal muscles are no different than any other muscle group. The World Health Organization has reported that globally, there are more than 300 million obese people. Like all good things, one has to work for six-pack abs. In the food pyramid, fruits and vegetables are given a large proportion in nutrition. Generally speaking dieting is not the best way to accomplish the goal of losing weight. Simply speaking, the individual that wants to lose weight has to decide that he or she will move more and consume fewer calories. In doing this, that person will burn more calories and desire to eat less of the wrong, or fatty foods. There is no magic pill nor exercise that can make you lose weight speedily in a healthy manner.

A simple method of weight loss that you can try is drinking plenty of water as much as 8 glasses a day. Have you dreamed of wearing two piece bikini or swim trunks? Most men and women aspire for a flat belly or six-pack abs but this will remain an aspiration unless something is done to achieve it. Drinking water is the best way to lose weight. Dieting deceives the body systems and also fools the person into thinking that they are actually loosing weight in a healthful manner. Starving the body of food for a period of time is not helpful and will cause adverse affects which is the reason many people say that as soon as they return to regular foods, the weight is back to the starting point, or higher than the starting weight.

Factor two is that the meals must be smaller, more regular, and consist of the four primary food groups. During the diet, the body actually will consume its own muscle tissue for protein when there is insufficient protein in the meals. The muscle tissue is heavier than fat, but more muscle tissue is required to burn more calories to achieve the desired effect for weight loss and body image change.

Factor three for a Healthy Diet is that fatty foods, high calories junk foods, must be eliminated from the diet in order to lose weight.

Factor four is that eating between meals and snacking late at night is contrary to a lifestyle change and becoming a disciplined healthful eater.

Factor five is that fresh fruits, fresh vegetables, grains and nuts in moderation must be part of the healthy diet program. Aiming for a perfect body figure, well shaped body or flat abs takes hardwork and lots of self discipline and self sacrifices. If you sincerely devote yourself to getting fit, you will be rewarded with flat abs. For best results, all things must be done in moderation.
